Parking restrictions on 'dozens' of city streets

THERE are plans to restrict parking on dozens of roads around Plymouth - in a bid to make it safer for pedestrians and children going to school.

Plymouth City Council this week put up notices in the Stoke areas saying it is looking at painting double yellow lines at junctions to improve visibility, prevent obstructions and allow for safer access to schools.

A consultation has started and residents have until December 17 to submit their views.

Roads that could be affected include St Levan Road, Glenmore Avenue, Craigmore Avenue, Welsford Avenue, Providence Place, Collingwood Road, Stuart Road, Rutger Place Palmerston Street, Crawford Road and Auckland Road.

They are included in a proposed traffic regulation order (TRO) which covers 40 roads, also including Abbotts Road, Admiralty Street Ope North, Auckland Road, Coombe Way, Craigmore Avenue, Darwin Crescent, Elburton Road, Elim Terrace, Fairview Avenue, Fitzroy Road, Glenmore Avenue, Hillcrest Close, Hooe Road, Huxham Close, Hyde Park Road, Kings Tamerton Road, Lakeside Drive, Lyndhurst Close, Lulworth Drive, Manifold Gardens, Parker Road, Phoenix Street, Pike Road, Providence Place, Renown Street, Saltash Road, South Hill, St Elizabeth Close, Sydney Close, Tamar Street, Tavistock Road, Uxbridge Drive, Waterloo Street and Welsford Avenue.

When asked about the Stoke notices, a Plymouth City Council spokesperson said: “We are proposing double yellow lines in the following locations:

The junctions of St Levan Road with Glenmore Avenue, Craigmore Avenue and Welsford Avenue (to increase visibility).
