TENNIS STAR IN TEARS AFTER GOING OUT IN FIRST ROUND
HINDHEAD tennis star Jodie Burrage is contemplating a trip to Australia to cheer on her rugby star boyfriend Ben White after fighting back tears following a distressing early Wimbledon exit last week.
She began the week with good news when Scotland scrumhalf White was a late addition to the British and Irish Lions squad for their series against the Wallabies.
But her joy turned to despair on Tuesday (July 1) following a comprehensive 6-3 6-1 first-round loss to American Caty McNally.
Burrage faces three weeks out with an ankle injury after she tore ligaments in her foot by stumbling on some steps prior to her defeat by McNally.
She was visibly upset during an emotional post-match press conference last week, in which she branded her performance “shocking”.
