Danny: BBC soap has gone downhill since I quit as Mick
DANNY Dyer has slagged off EastEnders, saying it is now "s***".
In a no-holds-barred account of his time as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, Danny - whose character was killed off in the 2022 Christmas special - recalled how he was often drunk on set and took valium before scenes.
He looks back fondly on his first three years on Albert Square, but said he then found it a draining emotional rollercoaster, with not enough duty of care.
Asked what he thought of the BBC show since he left, he shrugged: "S*** now, ain't it? Serves them right"
Dad-of-three Danny, 47, said 'Enders saved his career when he was at a low point and had bailiffs at his door, despite the success of films, Human Traffic and The Football Factory.
But he found his 2013 reception on Albert Square to be frosty. Danny said: "It is a very cliquey place to work. We took the pub over from Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie.
"They brought us in and they had the hump.
