And if you wonder how much of the cost of your drink goes to the Government, taxes make up 28% of the average pint of beer, 23% of the average pint of cider, 29% of the average glass of wine and 26% of the average shot of spirits.

The British pub trade pays more than its fair share and it’s about time it was given a break as it stares into the abyss.

Hospitality trade bodies are warning the Government that they must take immediate action.
