Lathum takes top spot at Bulldog Fishery’s May Fly contest

ANGLING COLUMN
BULLDOG Fishery hosted their fully subscribed May Fly fishing competition last Sunday with 12 keen competitors taking part.
With perfect overcast conditions, the sport was great from the start with some superb fish banked. Mike Lathum secured top spot with six fish for 27Ib 12oz - with the biggest a 6lb 12oz rainbow trout. Runner up was Nick Tamlin with six for 22lb 5oz. - with a 7lb 4oz rainbow the biggest. Dave Chapman was third with a bag of five for 22Ib that included an 8Ib 9oz rainbow, which was the biggest trout of the day.
In all, 53 trout were caught including numerous fish in the 5lb to 8Ib size range, two of which were tiger trout. The popular competitions are due to resume in the autumn after a summer break - though this could be reviewed if the weather is cool during June.
