NEW ROAD WILL ALSO ALLOW TRAFFIC TO AVOID THE BUSY LEVEL CROSSING
MP Hamish Falconer on the Charterholme Tritton Road bridge
(City of Lincoln Council)
WORK will begin much sooner than expected on a new road which will enable the opening of the railway bridge in Lincoln.
It will connect Tritton Road with Skellingthorpe Road, letting traffic avoid the level crossings in one of the most congested parts of the city.
The new road will go through the major Charterholme housing development, where up to 3,200 homes could eventually be built.
The City of Lincoln Council has just announced it’s received a £37.2million recoverable grant from Homes England which will enable it to prepare land it owns for construction.
This will include the new road, which could be open as soon as 2029, as well as drainage, land raising and other infrastructure.
