Pep adds 'humble' Erling to team of Blue leaders... and it's already paid off

ERLING HAALAND has been leading by example for Manchester City this season - but that was always the plan.

- BY TYRONE MARSHALL

In the summer, Haaland took on a new role when he was added to City's four-man leadership team and the Norwegian striker has certainly taken it in his stride.

Haaland has a remarkable 26 goals in 16 games for club and country this season, with his tally for City standing at 141 goals in 159 games in all competitions.

In those 16 games, only Tottenham and Aston Villa have stopped him from scoring.

With 13 goals in the first 10 Premier League games more than double any other player in the top flight - he is already well on his way to breaking his single-season record of 36.

But while his goals are his currency, it is his attitude that is giving him credibility among his peers, according to Pep Guardiola.

The City boss said: "It's difficult to find a world-class player to be incredibly humble and thinking about what is the best for the team.
