Many countries are looking to G20 with hope for a more representative and inclusive global order where every voice is heard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday, hailing India's presidency of the grouping and saying the yearlong tenure has sowed the seeds of confidence in the countries of the so-called Third World.

G20 heralds hope for a new world order: Modi

In an interview to news agency PTI days before leaders from member and invited countries gather in New Delhi for the G20 Summit, Modi spoke about the importance of global cooperation, the human-centric approach championed by India, the democratisation of technology, the need for global cooperation to curb cybercrimes, the country's push for global peace, the goals for India once it attains 100 years of freedom, and how diversity remains the best betwhether in society or in terms of a country's energy mix.

"The G20 is certainly one of the institutions that is being looked at with hope by many countries. Because the world is looking for actions and outcomes, no matter where they come from," Modi said in the interview.

"India's G20 presidency has sowed the seeds of confidence in the countries of the so-called Third World. They are gaining greater confidence to shape the direction of the world in the coming years on many issues such as climate change and global institutional reforms," he added.

"We will move faster towards a more representative and inclusive order where every voice is heard." Modi said India's presidency of the G20 came at a critical juncture where the country's position in the global framework was pertinent. "As a diverse nation, the mother of democracy, home to one of the world's largest populations of youth, and the growth engine of the world, India has a lot to contribute to the shaping of the future of the world," he said.

Modi hailed India's four Dsdemography, democracy, diversity and development spoke about how the G20 provided New Delhi with a platform to further its "human-centric vision" and work towards solutions to problems of humanity.

"Before we complete our G20 presidency, over one lakh delegates will have visited India.
