T20 World Cup: Holders and hosts India to face Pakistan in Colombo on Feb. 15
Hindustan Times Mumbai
|November 26, 2025
India have been placed in a relatively light Group A for the 2026 T20 World Cup with USA, Netherlands and Namibia and arch-rivals Pakistan.
India will open their campaign on Feb 7 in Mumbai against USA, making it the first prime time match of the month-long event. Their much awaited contest against Pakistan will be a week later on Feb 15 in Colombo.
The Indian government has barred all bilateral sporting engagements with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in April this year, but has permitted contests between the two nations in multinational events.
Rohit, the captain in 2023 and the winning captain of India's 2024 T20 title triumph, was named as the brand ambassador of the tournament by ICC Chairman Jay Shah and he was clear about how India "must not take foot off the pedal" in the most unpredictable of formats in the game. India's current T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav echoed those thoughts.

SC: Cannot use insolvency to deny dignified housing
Insolvency protection cannot become an instrument to perpetuate displacement or defer the constitutional promise of dignified housing, the Supreme Court underlined on Friday, stressing that the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) was never intended to shield developers who default, abandon performance or frustrate projects of public significance. Economic revival, the court held, cannot eclipse citizens' fundamental right to live in safe and habitable conditions.

India played key role in shaping COP30 outcome
The establishment of a two-year work programme on the Paris Agreement’s Article 9.1, which mandates that developed countries provide resources to developing nations for climate action, was a significant outcome atthe 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil's Belém. Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav, who led India’s delegation at COP30, said this re-anchors the global climate finance debate in terms of the actual legal obligations of developed nations under the agreement. In an interview with HT, Yadav said he believed that COP30 has restored faith in multilateralism with developing countries seeing a structured process capable of holding developed nations accountable for the first time in years.
