ECP disqualifies Shibli, Ayub and other top PTI lawmakers

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz and National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, along with seven other lawmakers, following their conviction in multiple anti-terrorism cases.
According to an official ECP notification issued on Tuesday, the disqualifications follow orders from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Faisalabad, which handed down convictions in three separate cases. The lawmakers were disqualified under Article 63(I)(h) of the Constitution, which bars individuals convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude from remaining members of parliament.
