MEETINGS REFLECT FOCUS ON SECURITY PREPAREDNESS

Air Force chief meets Modi as tensions rise

In a significant development against the backdrop of escalating tensions with Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh yesterday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

The meeting, which went on for 45 minutes, comes in the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including 25 tourists and a local resident.

This high-level meeting marks the second such engagement between the Prime Minister and the military leadership within 24 hours. On Saturday, PM Modi held discussions with Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff.

These successive meetings reflect the Centre’s heightened focus on India’s security preparedness following the April 22 attack, widely attributed to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Sources said the meeting with Air Chief Marshal Singh was part of an ongoing strategic review that also included discussions on air defence readiness and interservice coordination for any potential response.
