Nugent: We drank sambuca and port to 'warm our bellies'

JAMIE VARDY used to down shots of sambuca and port to fire him up before evening matches for Leicester - according to best pal David Nugent.

The pair had an unusual pre-match ritual during the early days of Vardy’s King Power Stadium career.

The Leicester legend is leaving the club after 500 appearances and 200 goals over 13 years, with Nugent, who was best man at his wedding, predicting he will move abroad.

The Foxes’ No.9 is known for enjoying a Red Bull before matches.

But according to Nugent, who played with him for three years, he used to like something more potent.
