'A true giant of the game...' icon of Wales rugby JPR dead at 74

FORMER Wales and British and Irish Lions rugby star JPR Williams has died aged 74.

The full-back, who was regarded as among the greatest of all time, won 55 caps for his country during the 1970s glory era for Welsh rugby.

Renowned as a fearless player with his aggressive and attacking style, the Bridgend-born ace played eight Tests for the Lions, including triumphant tours of New Zealand in 1971 and South Africa in 1974.
