Jewson/Hellenic Roman Glass out in front after seeing off Droitwich
Bristol Post
|October 27, 2025
ROMAN Glass St George moved three points clear at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division following a 3-1 success with promotion rivals Droitwich Spa at Oaklands Park, Almondsbury.
Only goal difference separated the teams at the start of the day, but Roman Glass were good value for the win after dominating the second half.
A scuffed shot from Keith Kearney gave Roman Glass a 10th-minute lead, but Droitwich equalised before the break through Ben Tilbury’s spot-kick.
Nathan Hall put Roman Glass in front on 51 minutes with a shot which went in off the post, and Laurent Wilson sealed the win with a 74th-minute strike.
There was an amazing finish at Cossham Street where Cribbs took the three points against Mangotsfield United with a remarkable flurry of late goals.
An own goal gave Mangotsfield the lead on 57 minutes, and when George Neill made it 2-0 on 79 minutes, it looked like the hosts were heading for victory.
However, Buster Reed charged down a clearance to pull a goal back on 86 minutes. Reed headed home an equaliser on 90 minutes, and Joe Davis struck a few minutes later to give Cribbs the most dramatic of wins.
