Football Borges looks likely to make City debut from the bench

GERHARD Struber said it is possible Neto Borges could make his Bristol City debut from the bench against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, with the defender capable of featuring at either wing-back or as a left-sided centre-back.

The Robins travel to Hillsborough to face Henrik Pedersen’s Owls tomorrow afternoon. Wednesday sit second bottom of the Championship, only above Steel City rivals Sheffield United, having drawn one of their opening four games after a tumultuous summer off the field.

Since Struber’s side were last in action before the September international break, they have made one addition to their ranks, with Borges having joined the Robins on loan from Middlesbrough.

The Brazilian had featured for Boro in the opening weeks of the campaign, but his only start this season was in the Carabao Cup, where he played the full 90 minutes for Rob Edwards’ side as they were beaten 4-0 by Doncaster Rovers.

While City’s intention is to give the 28-year-old more regular minutes, Struber admits that may come as a substitute initially.

“The plan is that we bring him in for game-time,’ the head coach said in his pre-match press conference.
