A cracking result! Auction success brings trail's charity total to £2m

A BARNSTORMING auction on Thursday evening took the total amount raised for charity by Gromit Unleashed 3 to the £2 million mark.

Over 50 of the beloved sculptures - which featured in a trail dotted all over Bristol and surrounding areas during July and August - were sold off in aid of The Grand Appeal during the event at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway.
The sculpture which attracted the highest bid was one which transformed Wallace and Gromit's most iconic foe Feathers McGraw into Darth Vader, in a fusion of two of cinema's most chilling villains.
Darth McGraw went for a staggering £70,000.
By the end of the evening the total raised by the third iteration of Gromit Unleashed, including money raised during the trail itself, was guaranteed to have reached £2m.
