NACC to prosecute parks officials over alleged graft

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has found grounds to prosecute former Department of National Parks director-general Ratchada Suriyakul na Ayutthaya and several officials over alleged bribery and procurement fraud.
Surapong Intarathawon, deputy secretary-general and NACC spokesman, said yesterday the commission concluded Mr Ratchada and associates solicited money from subordinates to prevent transfers and manipulated procurement processes in 2022 at the Protected Areas Regional Office 4 in Surat Thani.
The first allegation concerns a bribery scheme exposed on Dec 27, 2022, when anti-corruption police arrested Mr Ratchada with 98,000 baht in cash. A search of his office uncovered a further 4.84 million baht.
