Crafted by KGID and Akta-rchitects, this striking abode features a remarkable spaciousness and a lush material mix that imbues it with subtle opulence
-
Tucked away in a cul-de-sac in Bukit Timah, this semidetached property makes an emphatic initial impression with its cuboid, almost brutalist form. An amalgamation of seemingly disparate materials comprising concrete, glass and timber, among others, makes up its exterior, yet this merry medley is surprisingly effective in its execution. Vertical fins fulfil aesthetic and functional requirements, creating a unique visual appeal while facilitating natural illumination, ventilation and protection from the elements. The three-level structure incorporates the requisite common zones such as living and dining areas, along with a pool, six bedrooms, a powder room, a gym, an entertainment area, a TV room and a breezy outdoor terrace. As with its impressive facade, the 5,500 sq ft abode makes an equally impactful statement on the inside, with open spaces, calming hues and considered design touches convening to form a welcoming hideaway in the heart of Singapore.
ALL TOGETHER NOW
Local interior design firm KGID worked in concert with architecture firm Akta-rchitects to realise this new-build house, which took a little over two years to complete. The owners, a couple with a young Son, had given KGID a free hand in designing the interior and selecting the furnishings, with their only request being for a modern and luxurious abode. The interior design firm drew upon its signature layered application of rich materials and textures to fashion a luxurious yet functional abode that meets its owners' needs perfectly.
