Feeling Before Thought

Tang Contemporary Art Singapore presents Universe's universe, a solo exhibition by Korean artist Woo Kukwon that encourages instinctive, open-ended encounters with art

Tucked away on the sixth floor of Delfi Orchard, Tang Contemporary Art Singapore may appear discreet, yet its curatorial ambition is anything but.

As the Southeast Asian arm of a gallery network spanning Beijing, Seoul and Bangkok, it is fast establishing itself as a conduit for cross-cultural dialogue, connecting regional art scenes with the wider world.

Its latest exhibition, Universe's universe, marks the first solo presentation in Singapore by Korean artist Woo Kukwon. On display from 26 July to 30 August 2025, the show reflects the gallery's growing exchange between its Seoul and Singapore outposts, led by directors Yonni Park and Sue Oh. Together, they shape a thoughtful programme grounded in regional engagement and transborder artistic dialogues.

INSTINCT AS METHOD

The show’s title is no metaphor. At the heart of Universe's universe is the artist's daughter, whose name, Woo-joo, translates to “universe”; her instinctive way of seeing the world has also opened new directions in Woo’ craft.
