News editor Jen is nominated for coveted Reporter of the Year gong
SUNDAY Mail news editor Jennifer Hyland has been nominated for Reporter of the Year at the prestigious Scottish Press Awards. She set the agenda with a string of exclusives, including revealing unmasking Nikos Koutoulakis as the man who will stand trial for murdering of expat Jean Hanlon in Greece. Jennifer also exposed gun fanatic John Prunty, left, who continues to run a controversial shooting club - despite a firearms conviction. She then led the Sunday Mail's crusade demanding better protection for rape victims, which has been nominated in the Campaign of the Year category. Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC announced changes to diversion from prosecution rules after we highlighted alleged rapists being spared criminal trials and given therapy instead. Jennifer revealed Lennox McGhee, 19, was given a \"diversion from prosecution\" for a sexual assault in 2020. It meant he was free to go on and rape a 15-year-old in 2022.
