2020 has been an unusual year. Impacted by the pandemic, the launches of fine timepieces and jewellery were delayed as manufacturing workshops shuttered, key international shows were cancelled and campaigns shelved. The silver lining is that anticipation of the newest luxury offerings reached fever pitch as production gradually restarted again. Consumer appetite could not have been healthier as pent-up demand drove shoppers to the boutiques again once the doors flung open. As the gatekeepers of the best in this sector, all of us here at Adore cannot be more heartened. This means designers and craftsmen can keep their livelihoods, brands can pursue the exemplary work they do, and all of us who love and respect the finesse of this industry will continue to see amazing creations. The kind of thematic products showcased this year have taught us one thing: It is the past that enriches the future. So many maisons have taken their heritage and ancestral know-how to the next level with impressive creations, as the following pages will demonstrate. These new masterpieces are based on design styles, motifs or technical mastery born during the most glorious periods of creativity in the history of watch and jewellery artistry. This edition, we pay tribute to legacy. And the hundreds and thousands of people who toil together to preserve and elevate it. Let’s salute them, and continue to lend them our support.
