Ahead of a new set of stars jetting off Down Under, we reveal how everything is not always what it seems on the iconic ITV show

I'm A Celeb CAMP SECRETS

Red sock rule

Most fans will assume the socks worn by celebrities have been chosen to match the colour scheme, but they are in fact to cover up any blood from the celebs. While in camp the stars come across creepy-crawlies, including leeches, that will gnaw on their legs and leave blood splatter across their clothes. So, to avoid upsetting viewers with blood-soaked celebs, the red socks were chosen to avoid the grim side of camp life showing up onscreen.

Even the critters are not all they seem and are flown in after being bred in a bug factory. Each series requires 250,000 cockroaches, 500 rats and 400 spiders, forcing producers to source them from outside the jungle. But problems have arisen due to bad weather conditions affecting breeding. One series reportedly saw bosses offering $5 for every spider locals could find.
