WHAT'S IN THE BAG?

MICHAEL MÖSER EDITOR, BUSINESS TRAVELLER GERMANY

Favourite business destination: Munich Favourite leisure destination: Portugal

Back in the good old days of flying, you could safely take a suit bag onboard, but try squeezing that into an overhead compartment these days. Instead, I wear my jacket onboard and my suit trousers are destined for my suitcase.

Since my checked baggage has failed to arrive a few times over the years, I now only fly with carry-on. My favourite piece of luggage is a black cabin case from the Lufthansa flight collection, which has countless compartments inside and out.

imageMy favourite section is the shirt compartment; if properly secured, neatly folded shirts retain their shape - meaning they're ready to change into for any meetings once on the ground. I love dark-blue jumpers and always have at least two with me when I'm travelling.

Besides clothing, I also always travel with my kulturbeutel (toilet bag) complete with headache tablets and earplugs in case there's a party in the hotel room next door.

Jelly Babies are also a must, providing a tasty sugar boost whatever time of day. It's best to bring these with me, as my favourite brand is rarely available abroad.

My insider tip is to take two small magnets on your travels: in hotel bathrooms they hold the shower curtain against the bath so the water doesn't go everywhere and - even more importantly - the curtain doesn't stick to your skin.
