Wales now the world’s first ‘Fast Track Nation’

WALES is officially the world’s first “Fast Track Nation” - marking a pivotal step in the national effort to end new HIV transmissions and eradicate HIV-related stigma.

Powys Teaching Health Board has now signed the Fast Track Cities Paris Declaration - the final health board region in Wales to sign it.

With its commitment, all seven health boards in Wales will have formally endorsed the Fast Track Cities principles of collaboration, equity, inclusion, shared data, and community leadership.

Wales therefore becomes the first UK nation and the first national health system worldwide to achieve complete Fast Track coverage across every regional health authority.

The Fast Track Cities initiative includes more than 550 different cities and regions globally but Wales has become the first Fast Track Nation of its kind.

This historic milestone is testament to the tireless work of Fast Track regions in Wales over the past five years, and of Fast Track Cymru, the only Wales-based charity focused on HIV and related conditions.
