Farage may have the charm, but you need more than that to impress a Welsh farmer

Reform leader Nigel Farage tried to work the crowds on the second day of the Royal Welsh Show, but did it work? Cathy Owen reports
-
HUNDREDS of people make the annual pilgrimage to the Royal Welsh Show in the rolling Powys countryside for a day away from it all. Away from the stresses of farming life, a chance to meet up with old friends and to enjoy the judging, the produce and the entertainment, just time to get away from it all.
But Nigel Farage came to work. To work the crowds who followed his every move, to work the media as he made the announcement that Wales now has its first Reform MS, and, he said, to listen to what farmers had to say.
It is likely there are going to be a lot more work visits to Wales as he concentrates on the run-up to next year’s Senedd election.
But how much are we actually going to find out about Reform policies and how did people react to his visit to the Llanelwedd showground?
After the announcement that Laura Anne Jones, the serving Conservative Senedd member for South East Wales, is joining Reform UK, we went to ask show-goers for their reaction to the Reform visit and news of the big-hitting defection.
We spoke to lots of people, but very few wanted to go on the record to give their view on Reform and their chances of voting for them next year.
