West Briton This doesn't look much like the NHS Labour promised

THE manifesto whose inspiring vision swept Labour into Number 10 (unless it was the electorate's loathing for the Conservatives, of course) contained the following pledges on the NHS: that it would create 40,000 more appointments every week; double the number of cancer scanners; promulgate a Dentistry Rescue Plan; hire 8,500 more mental health staff; and bring back the family doctor.

Nowhere, to the best of anyone's recollection, did it mention thousands of jobs being shed in an almost certainly doomed attempt to close a £6bn “funding gap”.
