We refer to the letter by Mr Gabriel Chia (A preventive approach can help protect our places of worship, Nov 11).

Mr Chia rightly described the incident at St Joseph's Church as shocking. Violence should have no place in Singapore.
The incident demonstrated the importance of community vigilance and emergency preparedness.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) have been working with religious organisations to raise security awareness and enhance crisis response capabilities, to ensure safety and security in our places of worship.
