Jackson Wang Shook Hands With Everyone
The Straits Times
|June 12, 2025
In the past few years, home-grown producer Alex Teh and his team have worked closely with pop stars who filmed their music videos in Singapore.
To him, Hong Kong-born singer Jackson Wang was the most memorable.
Teh, 41, is co-founder of The Hummingbird Co, the local production company that Wang's management approached when he needed to shoot a music video for an episode of popular Chinese reality show The Rap Of China in 2022.
Wang, a member of K-pop boy band Got7, was in town for a show at nightclub Marquee and a series of travel vlogs in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Hummingbird chose a location in Tuas as Wang wanted an industrial area.
Teh recalls: "We did the overnight shoot with him, from midnight to 6am. Throughout the process, he was very professional. But the thing that struck me most was that he made the effort, at the end of the shoot, to thank everyone in the production crew. He shook hands and gathered everyone for a photo."
Since then, Hummingbird has also worked on shot-in-Singapore videos for British band Coldplay, American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth and, most recently, Jin from K-pop boy band BTS.
