Mumbai police served notice for not filing FIR against BJP leader

A Mumbai-based lawyer Abid Abbas Sayyed has sent a legal notice to the Mumbai Police Commissioner alleging failure to act against alleged “derogatory and communal remarks” by Mumbai BJP chief and BJP MLA Amit Satam (photo), despite his alleged communal statements falling under cognisable offences in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
The lawyer has listed multiple instances where Satam made communal statements at public events and on social media.
"Kisi Khan ko Mayor banne nahi denge (We will never allow any Khan to become a mayor)" and "Aapjaisi Pakistan ki aulad se hum darte nahi (We are not afraid of sons of Pakistan like you)", BJP MLA Amit Satam allegedly stated according to the legal notice issued by lawyer Abid Abbas Sayyed.
