Will highlight alleged financial deprivation by Central government
The Trinamul Congress has launched a large-scale door-to-door campaign to highlight alleged financial deprivation by the Centre and to mobilise public support for its Martyrs' Day programme on 21 July.
Senior party leaders said efforts are underway to ensure a record turnout of workers and sympathisers at the rally.
The central theme of the campaign will centre on how the Union government has financially deprived West Bengal—particularly by withholding funds allocated for the MGNREGA scheme and housing for the economically disadvantaged.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reportedly cleared pending dues under MGNREGA and sanctioned funds for the housing schemes from the state budget.
