Google, Jio roll out Gemini AI for 5G users

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted on X that the company has entered into a deal with the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio to roll out free artificial intelligence tools to all Jio’s 5G users for 18 months.

As of June 2025, Reliance Jio has a 5G user base of 213 million, the company had announced in its earnings release for the first quarter of the financial year 2026 (QIFY26). Google services, worth Rs 35,100 per user, will have a staggered roll out with early access for 18-year-old to25-year-oldusers on unlimited Jio 5G plans for 18 months. Eventually it will be made available for free to the company’s entire customer base. “Excited to partner with Reliance Jio to bring the best of Google AI to India. Eligible Jio users will receive our AI Pro plan at no extra cost for 18 months, including Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of storage and our latest AI creation tools.
