Ina celebration of India’s rising sports prowess, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, honoured the Indian Women's Cricket Team following their historic victory at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
The team’s emphatic 52-run victory over South Africa, marking India’s first-ever triumph in the tournament, has ignited a wave of pride and celebration across the nation.
Prime Minister Modi, ina warm interaction with the Indian women's team at his residence late on Wednesday, paid glowing tribute to the team’s journey, praising their passion, determination, and ability to overcome setbacks.
“Every Indian feels immense pride in Team India’s World Cup victory. Their comeback after three consecutive defeats and their ultimate triumph over the undefeated Australian team have scripted a new chapter of excellence,” Mr Modi said.
