The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday witnessed a heated exchange between the Opposition and the treasury benches following "objectionable" remarks made by Leader of the House and BJP president JP Nadda against Leader of the Opposition and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

The controversy, however, ended with Nadda withdrawing his comments and apologising for his remarks.

Nadda, whose "lost his mental balance" remark about Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge triggered the uproar, told the House later: "I have taken back my words. I also apologise if your feelings have been hurt."

The row began after Kharge concluded his sharp speech with strong criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nadda responded by accusing Kharge of having "lost his mental balance," a remark that prompted immediate protest from the Opposition, leading to an uproar.
