YET another man from Mysuru's Periyapatna taluk died by suicide after allegedly facing relentless harassment from loan recovery agents. The deceased, identified as Subrahmanya (37), son of Nagaraj, was a resident of Basaveshwara Colony in Bettadapura in Peryapatna taluk. It is alleged that he had borrowed over ₹10 lakh from 17 different micro finance companies. Unable to cope with the mounting pressure from aggressive recovery agents, he took his own life by hanging himself at his residence. Subrahmanya left a message on the wall of his home, stating that he was ending his life due to the constant harassment by micro finance firms.
His death has sparked outrage in the region, highlighting the urgent need for stronger regulations on such companies.
