Idukki on alert as heavy rain continues; ban on night travel on Gap Rd

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Idukki district for Tuesday as heavy rain continues in the catchment areas.
The water level in the Idukki reservoir continues to rise steadily, inching closer to the orange alert level. As of 10 am on Tuesday, the water level in the reservoir stood at 2,377 ft, just 4.5 ft below the orange alert level of 2,381.53 ft.
As per alert protocols, a red alert will be sounded for the reservoir if the level touches 2,382.53 ft just below the rule level of 2,383.53 ft.
