Caste bias: Afternoon bus service extended till Anna Nagar

THE TNSTC Coimbatore region has started to operate Route 21B bus till Anna Nagar in the afternoon too, amid claims it had short-terminated its services at Kembanur due to caste bias.
Following strong opposition from a left-wing organisation, the district administration on Wednesday ordered the operation of the corporation bus to Anna Nagar where SC families reside.
Earlier, caste discrimination was alleged as the bus was not operational till Anna Nagar in the afternoon even though it arrived till Kembanur.
Now, the TNSTC Coimbatore region will operate this bus to Anna Nagar at 12.40 pm, similar to the morning trip.
Welcoming the move, a resident of Anna Nagar told TNIE that their demand was for buses (21 and 21B) coming till Kembanur to be extended to Anna Nagar.
