Over 60 hurt in mortar shelling on civilian areas in J&K, Poonch worst hit
At least 13 people, including an Army jawan and two minor girls, were killed, and over 60 others injured as Pakistani troops rained heavy mortar and artillery shells on civilian areas at the LoC in J&K in retaliation to Operation Sindoor.
The border district of Poonch was the worst hit and witnessed one of the heaviest and intense artillery shelling from Pakistani troops since the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Poonch, Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan, told this newspaper about the deaths of the people and the state of the injured. Army jawan Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of 5 Field Regiment was among those killed in Poonch. The injured were evacuated to different hospitals. Critically injured people were shifted to the Jammu hospital for treatment.
