Heavy rain and flooding set to hit parts of UK next week
The Independent
|November 29, 2025
Yellow weather warnings for rain have been issued across parts of the UK at the beginning of next week.
The Met Office said heavy rain is likely to bring some disruption and possible flooding on Monday from midnight until 3pm in the South West and Wales, and from 8am on Monday to 6am on Tuesday in the South East.
Up to 80mm of rain is expected in parts of south Wales and southwest England on Monday, with as much as 50 to 60mm predicted over the North and South Downs in England.
Strong winds, perhaps reaching gale force, will accompany the rainfall particularly in coastal areas, according to the Met Office. The heavy rain will continue into Tuesday morning.

Slot banks on luck turning for his misfiring champions
Even as Liverpool are in a slump of staggering proportions, Arne Slot has one fewer critic. In his own family, anyway. In March, as Liverpool cruised towards the Premier League title, the Dutchman revealed his father had found fault with their performances. In tougher times, however, Arend Slot has become more sympathetic. A former coach of VV Bergentheim, an amateur team in the Netherlands, he has some insight into the job and its demands. Now, however, parental duties have taken over.
