BASTILLE DRUMMER RETURNS AS OFTEN AS POSSBILE

- ANITA MERRITT

'Woody' bangs the drum for his home city

ONE group you can never accuse of forgetting where they have come from despite achieving global success is rock band Bastille. Many of their tours over the past decade have included a date in Devon and that’s because drummer Chris ‘Woody’ Wood is originally from Plymouth.

Despite now living in Brighton with his wife and their two young children, he still makes time in his busy schedule to visit his beloved city a few times a year, although one of those occasions wasn’t on Sunday when Bastille performed at Powderham Castle near Exeter.

Backstage at the gig, Woody spoke to The Herald to reveal the places he loves most in Plymouth and how it’s the only place he tends to get recognised.

The band has recently returned from the US as part of a current tour with Duran Duran which is why Woody says he had no time to enjoy a quick trip back home.
