The Lions break their transfer record to secure services

MILLWALL have paid what they say is a club record fee to sign Josh Coburn from Middlesbrough.

The Boro academy graduate spent last season on loan with the Lions, netting five goals in 21 appearances and helping Millwall finish above Boro in the table.

Manager Alex Neil had made clear that they were keen to make the move a permanent one.

With Boro changing managers this summer and recently appointing Rob Edwards as new head coach, there was hope from some that the popular Richmond striker would get a fresh opportunity to impress.

However, Millwall's bid, which is understood to be worth up to £5 million, was enough to convince Boro to sell the 22-year-old, who signs what was called a 'long-term deal' at the Den.
