Rooney: Fans have a point - I can see why they are upset

ROB Edwards' move from Middlesbrough to Wolves is big news, with many top names offering their verdict.

WAYNE ROONEY: “I think Middlesbrough fans have got a point. He hasn't been there at Middlesbrough that long after being given the opportunity after his time at Luton. So I think they've got a point.

“Having said that, clubs get rid of managers now after two months of being at a club, so you can question loyalty that way as well.

“For him, I can understand why he thinks it's a good opportunity, but I can also understand why Middlesbrough fans will be upset with him.

“I wouldn't say his job at Wolves is impossible, but it’s very unlikely [he keeps them up]. Their form this season has been horrendous. That's why they've changed the manager, and it's going to be a tough job for him.”

ALAN SHEARER: “I get his connection with Wolves and that he has a house in that particular area. But Middlesbrough gave him a great opportunity, and I think it's very harsh on them. It's a huge risk from his point of view because I don't see them staying up at all. I don't see enough ability in that squad, and I don't see it being very inviting for him. It's a big gamble.”
