Farmers have significantly increased their use of organic manure in the ongoing kharif sowing season, with procurement rising 3.5 times y/y to 117 lakh tonnes, according to the Centre.

The government said the sharp increase reflects a gradual shift in farmer preference towards organic nutrient sources and reduced dependence on chemical fertilisers.
