The Madras High Court has called on the Centre to justify the exclusion of transgender persons from adopting children, emphasising the government's statutory duty to promote the full inclusion and participation of transgender individuals in society.

- HD Bureau

The directive was issued by the First Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G. Arul Murugan, who raised the matter following a petition seeking clarity on adoption policies.

The court questioned why transgender individuals should not be allowed to adopt children, pointing to the legal framework that mandates the state to ensure the inclusion of marginalised communities, including transgender persons.

The bench made its stance clear, asserting that the government must provide a valid rationale for denying such individuals the right to adopt.

Foreign investors quietly build positions!

FIIs may appear to be on a selling spree, but that's not the full story. A recent report reveals that FIIs have actually been buying or increasing their holdings in several stocks. What makes this trend interesting is that most of these stocks belong to the smallcap space, and a few have already delivered multibagger returns. Foreign investors are quietly changing their approach toward smallcap stocks. The shareholding data for the September quarter shows that FIIs have raised stakes in 292 smallcap companies, indicating renewed confidence in India's high-risk, high-reward segment. Interestingly, 131 of these stocks have already delivered multibagger returns over the last 3 yrs, turning many investments into significant wealth creators. Some of the names that stand out include Authum Investment and Infrastructure, Marathon Nextgen Realty, HBL Engineering, and Apollo Micro Systems.
