England's star batter Joe Root finally ended his long wait for a Test century on Australian soil, achieving the milestone on Thursday during the pink-ball second Test of the five-match Ashes series.

Joe Root felt the relief after this elusive milestone.
Thirteen years after his Test debut, Root completed his elusive first hundred in Australia at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, reaching the mark off 181 balls with 11 fours.
Root finished Day 1 unbeaten on a superb 135* from 202 deliveries, striking 15 fours and a six at a strike rate above 66. After bringing up his hundred, the former England captain shifted gears, showcasing his full range of strokes—including an effortless reverse ramp that drew admiration across social media.
