Tying the knot creatively at love fest

Ever dream of getting married on a Viking ship? Or in an old church-turned-contemporary art museum? Anything, or almost anything, was possible during Copenhagen’s Golden Days festival celebrating love.

A total of 50 couples from Denmark and abroad were married on 13 September in unconventional ceremonies involving performance art or unique locations - and sometimes both.

“We have dark clouds over Europe at the moment. We have a war going on in Ukraine, we have climate change and we have a lot of division,” festival director Svante Lindeburg said.

“We want to focus on something that brings people together and inspires and gives hope.”
