FORM: THREE-YEAR-OLD LOOKED AN UNLUCKY LOSER LAST TIME OUT AND IS READY TO WIN AGAIN
Last week saw the Joburg Spring season kick off with the Listed Betway Spring Spree Stakes and it was a good win from Quantum Theory who holds a special place with me.
Well done to everyone concerned and as mentioned last week, I think this season will be filled with quality. Racing tomorrow takes place at Turffontein on the Inside track and there is a nine-race card to preview.
The meeting is in support of the Highveld Horsecare Unit and this is a really worthy cause. They do excellent work to ensure that horses, especially those outside of racing, are well cared for.
Without the horse we would not have a sport and it is sad when so many of these wonderful animals are just disregarded at the end of their racing careers.
Hopefully they raise a lot of money at the meeting.
I have seven rides carded and I believe I have some decent opportunities so I will be hoping for a decent day.
Race 1 is a Maiden Plate over 1200m and I ride Stone Of Scone who I make one of my best rides on the card. She has run three very decent races and I think this is a perfect opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag and I'll be disappointed if she doesn't win.
Alpha World unfortunately took hold of the bit last time out when stepped up in trip and that detrimentally affected his performance. He drops back in trip now and on his best form he is the main danger.
Midnight Flyer has run two lovely races to date where he has shown clear ability. He can definitely win a race of this nature and one for the shortlist.
Watch the betting and canter past for the best guide to the chances of the unraced runners.
Race 2 is a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m and I think Sheets And Goggles can follow up her good win during the week and she is the horse I think they all have to beat.

It feels silly to even suggest this, but based on the performances of the country's strong spin bowling contingent, Keshav Maharaj's place in the national Test team might be in danger.
