'Mainoo in direct competition with Bru for minutes'

RUBEN Amorim has confirmed Kobbie Mainoo is in competition with United captain Bruno Fernandes for a place in the starting XI.

Mainoo was unused for the second week running in United's 1-1 draw at Fulham, as Amorim sent on four defensive players in the second half. The only outright attacking change by the United head coach was the introduction of new striker Benjamin Sesko as Mainoo and striker Joshua Zirkzee remained in the dugout.

Mason Mount dropped back into central midfield following the substitution of Casemiro with the game goalless. Defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte replaced Mount in the 69th minute with United 1-0 up.
