WHAT HOLIDAY INN WORKER WAS VIDEOED SAYING TO HOMELESS MEN WHO HAD ROOMS BOOKED

- By JAMES HOLT

TWO homeless men were turned away from a night in the warmth at a Holiday Inn in Manchester city centre as temperatures plummeted to -6°C, despite a booking already being paid for.

Amanda Thompson, from outreach group Two Brews, had used Booking. com to pay for two double rooms, with breakfast included, for the two men who she supports when out on the streets of the city.

With the subzero temperatures outside, she used donations and money from her own pocket for the booking to bring the two men in out of the freezing cold.

It came on Monday, just days after homeless dad Anthony Horn was tragically found dead on Boxing Day morning. It’s thought the 47-year-old may have died from the cold after he was found along a walkway next to a canal near the Bridgewater Hall.

The cost of the two rooms totalled over £200, including a £51 a night charge for the room, and £50 damage deposit. After the two men were accompanied to the Holiday Inn Express on Oxford Road, a member of staff on reception then explained how they couldn’t honour the booking.
