THE GOLDEN BHOY IS BACK

DEPARTURE Brendan Rodgers' second stint as Celtic boss ended on Monday

If Martin O'Neill goes on a winning run, Celtic will keep on to him

Tomorrow, countless Irish fans will be glued to the telly for the Old Firm Scottish League Cup semifinal — even Keith Andrews!

And you can bet the airwaves will be alive with debate, drama and anticipation.

You've got to hand it to Martin O'Neill.

At 73 - though he looks 20 years younger - he's made an astonishing comeback to manage Celtic. We're told it's temporary, just an interim role, but the reality is simple: if he wins tomorrow and keeps winning, he stays in charge—until he stops triumphing.

Managing Celtic is a peculiar business.

Just ask Brendan Rodgers. Despite delivering success twice, he left abruptly after an astonishing Dermot Desmond statement criticised his 'conduct and communication' as divisive, misleading and self-serving.

Many saw it as character assassination.

Today, the real power at Celtic seems to belong to the majority shareholder. Legendary businessman or not, it was a sad, bitter end to a manager who consistently delivered.

And yet, the big winner is O'Neill.
