Chance to follow their home energy journeys

A HOST of familiar names from the worlds of TV and sport are telling the stories of how they joined Ireland's retrofit revolution.

In a new podcast series, homeowners including Dermot Bannon, presenter James Kavanagh and Leinster Rugby hero Ryan Baird are revealing how they are converts to sustainable energy.

It's all part of a new podcast series to promote the grants available to bring down your bills while making your home more cosy.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland launched 'House Warming' this week with TV star James, who has purchasing a house in rural Co Kilkenny.

The social media influencer moved to a remote home outside Graiguenamanagh with partner William and has been busy documenting the purchase and renovation on Instagram.

FREEZING

"In the winter the house is freezing. You can see your breath in the hallway," he tells podcast presenter Kim Buckley.

"I am kind of dreading the winter now so I'm really excited to do up the house for better insulation.

"We're doing a wrap around the house outside. We got the solar and I love watching it on a really sunny day. Even on the dull days you are getting the solar in. A good €100 has been taken off our bills a month.

"We have had a few power cuts in storms. Now we have a plug in the hall it will kick in and plug straight in if there's a storm."

The new lifestyle podcast sets out to explore real-life energy upgrade stories across Ireland
